HUSSEIN CHALAYAN

A part of the clothes of Hussein Chalayan are in. Still working through Japan as his inspirational source (last season we saw Sakoku = closed country; this season it’s Kaikoku = open country), he takes what he called the “surreal aspects of Japanese culture” and moulds them into clothes that are eminently wearable but extravagantly unique.

Together with the launch of Autumn 1112 Fifth Avenue Shoe Repair launched their new brand profile worldwide. The logo of FIFTH AVENUE SHOE REPAIR has become V AVE SHOE REPAIR presented in a new logo, and in its very shortened form V AVE S.R, which you can see on the left sided image.

The draping on the mannequin, the traditional way of designing, will always constitute the most important element of who they are, together with the love of tailoring and attention to detail. The couture collection, previously BY THE NO., is re-named V AVE SHOE REPAIR ATELIER.

We are happy to introduce the shop in shop of ‘And Beyond’! And Beyond is the label of Jolanda van den Broek and Brigitte Hendrix, both graduated from the Fashion Department of the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam in 2005.

They will offer you a serie scarves named Series 1, The Droste effect - a strange loop -. Five luxurious Italian silk scarves have been designed with the Dutch optical 'Droste effect' as a main inspiration. The effect creates a strange loop, the scarf reacts on, and dissappears in itself. Just as fashion does with every move it makes.

TSUMORI CHISATO SS 11 NEW IN

For one part of the SS11 collection Tsumori Chisato was inpired by the great African landscapes and skies from her visit to the continent last March. She was really inspired by the leopards in the nature reserve parks and the African landscapes. She decided to make the collection as though it was a dream , so a part of the collection is all pastel and dreamy colours. Like she said ‘It's a pastel jungle!’

The collection has also mid-length dresses with vivid color combinations and bold, graphic, hand drawn lines and stripes mixed with clouds in strong primaries. There are also coquettish knit dresses with trompe-l'oeil printed sailor hats.

UNCOMMON MATTERS AW1011

Handle with care is a limited edition of porcelain accessoires of Berlin based label Uncommon Matters. Each piece of the collection has been handmade by Reichenbach on the socalled Porcelain Street in Thuringia. The high skills of the Reichenbach manufactory and the fine quality of the porcelain contribute to the unique dimension of the collection.

TOM SCOTT AW1011

Tom Scott can get his inspiration from the most unusual places. The theme of his 2010 Fall/Winter collection called “Hair Culture” originated from a 1921 hair styling guide with the same title he found on eBay. This evolved into a collection where hair and knitwear come together. Alpaca and cashmere coats, scarves and sweaters resemble buns and frizzy hair. As with his previous collections Tom Scott found a humorous spot to present his designs: at the East Village’s Beauty Bar with models surrounded by vintage beauty equipment.

TSUMORI CHISATO AW1011

Tsumori Chisato´s inspiration for this season are scenes of Cappadocia´s scattered landscape and the culture, its Turkish blue skies and mushroom rocks alongside nomad tents and magic lamps. Her current collection focuses on contrast and volume. She made a mix of non-transparent prints and sheer sections of fabric and what is perhaps the highlight of this season is the use of texture.

The selection we made of the Preen AW1011 collection is in! The look of Preen’s AW1011 was anchored by a strapless bra, which was visibly worked into the designs of the dresses and shirts. So for Preen, spring's lingerie trend will stick around for fall. What felt truly revolutionary was Thornton and Bregazzi’s decision to embrace menswear tailoring and their use of a lavender floral print.

AW1011 LD TUTTLE

It's great to have LD Tuttle in store. The Los Angeles-born designer Tiffany Tuttle worked as a professional ballet dancer until she was 20. Nowadays she splits her time between Los Angeles, where she dreams up her draped, architectural visions, and Italy, where they take form. Her eponymous footwear line with equal parts comfort and style have drawn a horde of fans, including recent collaborators Victoria Bartlett at VPL and Nicole and Michael Colovos at Helmut Lang.
