Julie Wilkins, London based designer and singer/songwriter, launched Future Classics in 2000. She received original praise for its exploration into the traditional conventions of the modern t-shirt and soon she incorporated knitwear and tailored pieces to the line.
A major part of the Future Classics ethos is in the studied construction of each garment, which combines a modern and deconstructive approach to classically made garments. The pieces are developed and produced with care and attention to detail, using traditional techniques and fabrics – silk, cotton, cashmere, wool - and are often hand finished. The interior of the garment is as important as the exterior.
For 2009, Wilkins introduces Future Classic Dress, an extension of the brand that includes dresses and "half-dresses" with innovative tailoring and complex silhouettes. The Future Classics Dress prints are all designed and developed by Julie.
