Denmark born designer Camilla Skovgaard was sent to Dubai at the age of 20 to design for the Gulf Sheikhs' wives and daughters. It was here Skovgaard first connected with shoe design. She spent seven years in Dubai before moving to London in 2000 to attend Cordwainers shoe college and later the Royal College of Art. Saks Fifth Avenue snapped up her first collection before she had graduated. Skovgaard has collaborated with the British fashion house Matthew Williamson, Emilio Pucci, Aminka Wilmont, and Jens Laugesen. In addition to abundant press coverage, her shoes have won several awards for their innovative aesthetic and craftsmanship.
