AND BEYOND
Designers Jolanda van den Broek (1977) and Brigitte Hendrix (1978) both graduated from the fashion department of the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam in 2005. Together they formed And Beyond Studios. As well as designing for national and internationial exhibitions, they work for clients in fashion, art and design. In 2008 they started creating collections and developed their brand; And Beyond.
They have been nominated for the dutch design Awards and presented their work during Shanghai Fashion Week, Dutch design Week Hong Kong, Seoul Fashion Week, Arnhem fashion Biennale, Les Canaux de la Mode Paris, Amsterdam International Fashion Week and NewYork 400/Pop Up Story.
AND BEYOND SERIES
Every And Beyond Series tells a story. And Beyond makes designs that are worthwile and that have meaning. The stories have lead to the creation of a series of fashion items, with each series focusing on a specific product.
SERIES I
The Droste effect - a strange loop -
In the first series for autumn | winter 1112 the main character is the scarf. It is the ideal canvas for one of the most important aspects of And Beyond; our passion for pattern design. This series of luxurious scarves has been designed with the Droste effect as our main inspiration.
SERIES II
Patched
In this second series for spring | summer 12 the main character is again the scarf. Five large luxurious scarves have been designed with the tradition of patchwork as a main inspiration. Based on traditional structures that were used to construct a patchwork composition, the designs show a contemporary take on a classic craft.
